Instagram will be asking for users’ date of birth now when creating an account and is providing control over direct messages.

Birthdays which will be obtained from Instagram Age Verification will not be publicly visible on Instagram, but people can view it in their private account information.

If you have connected your Facebook account to your Instagram account, they will add the date of birth that’s on your Facebook profile. If you edit your date of birth on Facebook, it will also change it on Instagram.

If you don’t have a Facebook account or if you have not connected your accounts, you can add or edit your birthday directly on Instagram.

Every User must be at least 13 years old to have an account in most countries, as the content circulating on the platform is age-appropriate, so the platform is about ten years late to add the feature. But it was written whoever missed it earlier.

Instagram will also use the information provided for age verification to create tailored experiences.
